Was doing some tier 3 potions / poisons, using up the mounds of loam and materials I'd harvested.

First, the glass part:
Loam, 133c (what it sells to merchant for)
2 temper/resin/oil, 200c (I sell the vials for 1s each, so it costs me 2s to use them vs sell them)
Coal, 6c

Total, 339c, makes 3 glasses/vial, so cost = 113c each. I give the jeweler 2s, but for these calcs we'll use the bare min 113.

Now for the actual combine:
an emultion type, 200c (what it sells to merchant for)
glass or vial, 113c
Suspension, 578c (bought from merchant)
Candle, 6c

Total cost, 895c, roughly 9 silver, bare minimum.

If you make the lvl 23 Wave of Health, it sells for 10s each. Very nice, break even while gaining xp.

However, if you make lvl 24 Shining Elixer, it sells for 1.2s each. Imagine my shock when I went to sell the stack I just made!

Also, selling the lvl 22 Hateful Indignance, you get a whopping 60c, yes 60 Copper!! I spent 180 silver, and got back 12 silver.

Be VERY careful when making any of these items, and check the sell back on one before doing a bunch

edit: fyi: I did /bug both of these in game, and am holding the items in hopes they correct the sell prices :D

Yes sellback prices are very w0nky.

If you bother to make all the different qualities of fungal refines (i.e. Juniper Emulsion, Juniper Wash, Juniper Resin, etc ad nauseum) you would find that the mediocre results sell for about 2/3 what all the other results sell for. Seems very strange. Also, the "Liquified XxXxXx" versions sell for less than the emulsions/washes/resins/solutions/etc.

There are a couple potions that have strangely higher sellback prices compared to the others. I'm just hoping that when they fix all these 'issues' that they choose to make them all like the higher ones, and not the lower ones ;)

I've noted this in another post on the board:

Potions that are not equippable sell back at 10s such as Wave of Health and Xalrian's Renewal. Potions that are equippable (not necessarily usable,) in the case of Shining Elixir, selll back at 1s, 20c.

There's no gurantee that we should be making money selling our products to vendors, of course. But I think the differences you're seeing are related to Alchemy not being properly impleneted in its entirety. I don't think Wave of Health is supposed to be selling back for 10s, necessarily.

THe moral of the story is, if you're trying to make one, just make one first and check it. Or do an examination of the item from the recipe book. If you get a full desrcription of the item, you're probably not going to like it. If you don't, it will probably sell back at 10s.

I see that to be a clear profit, however as I work with my Jeweler in trade. She makes me bottles, I give her neolith and thylakoid. I spend only the cost of celestial + fuel.

I was discussing the whole "Shaped level goods sell to the vendor cheaper than any other level" problem, and he had a very interesting idea about it.

When (If) the TS Instance vendors have these items available for purchase, they will be the 'Shaped' level of quality. The lower price of them could be an indication that they will sell these items for at or close to the sell price of the other quality levels... only they will buy them back for less (what they currently buy them for)

What do you guys think about this idea?

I like the idea; makes perfect sense to me. One way to test it would be to compare the sell back prices of t1 stuff. I'm too lazy to do it myself, sorry. =)

Well, they 'fixed' the prices......

edit: They REALLY fixed the prices, 10s each now. /dance
