I rolled up a Ratonga Scout to act as my Outfitter. After much thought I decided this would be best rather than every one of my RL friends having to buy packs. Plus, I'm a tradeskill wench! LOL
Anyhoo, just dinged 10, and am now in my new crafting society.
Skipping the new discovery ideas for leveling, (I like to get stacks of components and just grind it out in one sitting) what can I make to level quickly to 15 so I can make myself the pristine 8 slot 10%wt reduce bags?
Again, I'd like to be able to just buy a few components and grind up.
My main is a 12+ Scholar is that helps.

Buy bunches of Pelts, and Ore. Make Tan Stretched Leather(or what ever they call them exactly) and Iron Bars. Then Turned the Hides you refined into Plates and Cords. Give the Ore over to your Scholar to have him make Buckles. If after doing several long sets of those you still havent leveled. Start making some more or make armor. Wont take long to get to 15 and when you arrive you will have enough parts to make about 40 backpacks. :) (This is very borring to do though.) Which will get you well along your way to 20.

May want to make a full set of burlap and tanned leather armor. Each set (minus the legs and chest) all take the same ingredients to do, so you can get some fast experience pumping out 5 of each (get discovery on each piece, most likely get a full level per set if done when you first get the recipes)

Quick question, will the stretches of tanned leather, tanned leather cords, and tanned leather plate stack?
Or am I going to have issues with space?

They all stack given that you bring them all to the same quality. So, you shouldn't run into many space problems unless you wind up with several stacks of each (or several different qualities).

Ok, so I made the streches of tanned leather through lvl 10 VERY fast. Gives 5% PER successful pristine.
However, at lvl 11...I'm only making about 2% Straps, etc still 2%. But I didn't get anything in the lvl 11 book that would allow me to raise skill faster.
I can't imagine doing the stretches until 15. They won't give me anymore than 1% at next lvl (12) and at 13 will be less than 1%.
Anyone have a quicker route now? I have 3 stacks of pristine streches so I'm ready for 15 and the backpacks...I just need to get there =)

It's really not a race, but if need be, start making interm items. The start working on finish items. I got to 16 just by making spikes, sheets, stretched, cloth, padding...etc. I make a decent profit off of them as well if I price correctly.

You can also try making things you haven't made before, as you get bonus exp the first time you get something to pristine. Like the above person said, make armor pieces. I made one pristine helm at level 12 and it put me almost halfway to 13. (This is including exp for subcombines)

Yes, you get much more exp for finished items also. I believe (without looking) that there are some leather items (or at least cloth) in your level 11 book. If not, just make burlap padding and burlap cloth until you level. These are used in all the burlap clothing recipes. You will however need to find a craftsman to make you some patterns.
Before contacting a craftsman for patterns, make an equal number of burlap threads to give him in order to make patterns. (They can make the thread themselves, but the counters are messed up for it and they will appreciate that you only have 1, not 2, combines that they need to do per)
Also, leather and chainmail armors all use patterns and padding. They only use a different primary component (with the exception of the chest/legs)
Not only will you get good exp doing armor, you can sell it for at least a little profit.

I mostly leveled outfitter from 10-15 on turning average pelts into tanned leather and turning iron clusters into iron bars. Mixed in with a few bags here and there and some weapon tasks. I started making alot of armor after lvl 15. It starts to be a grind after a while on the same items.

Note how at level 11 you get burlap (a level 12 recipe)
at 12 you get Leather (a level 14 recipe)
and level 13 you get chainmail (a level 16 recipe)
If you do a set of these at a time starting at level 11, by the time you are done you will most likely be level 15 (or darn close). Not only are they above your current skill level (giving a bonus), but if you do every one at least once you get the double exp discovery bonus (which equalled about 20% per piece of leather at level 12 for me)
I didn't do burlap until I was 14ish, by then the recipe was blue to me and didn't yield as much exp (but it was still good for each piece for the first time).
Do your highest con recipes at least once when you are leveling up and try your hardest to get pristine. It makes a world of difference.

I made a whole lot of iron bars, and then turned those into a whole lot of iron spikes, with the idea of selling these to scholars for use in Tier 2 spells. (This turned out to not be as successful as I had hoped, though if you can get eolith tempers for around 50c, as I've been haunting the brokers for, you can sell them to approximately break even.) When I got to about 13, this became unbearably slow, as you noted, so I started making weapons. This involved making iron crossguards and iron edges for many of them, along with tanned hilts and some of the iron spikes I had already made.
If you plan ahead, you can do big runs of these components, and then combine as appropriate in a whole bunch of very similar recipes that still get you the "discovery" bonus for each one.
That got me to just short of 15, and I made backpack components for the last little bit. The backpacks were especially useful, as I was about to betray and needed the space. ;) Making 7 backpacks (5 pristine normals and 2 pristine rares) got me about half of 15 right there.

Off-topic question, when you betrayed, did you have to take everything out of your bank?
Elriak

No. Everything I left in the bank in Freeport was there when I went to my new bank in Qeynos. So if you're ok being without any given thing for the duration of the quest, you can leave it in the bank.

One thing to note though is the shared bank slots arent attached to your character, but alignment. If you leave anything in those slots, you'll no longer have access to them once you betray, unless you've got another character of your old alignment who can grab them.
I lost a few things when I betrayed Freeport from my shared spots. I assumed (mistakenly) that those shared spots would change alignment with me.

Off the subject here....
Burlap Patterns, are those made by us or are they made by craftsman?
Nevermind, found it. They are made by craftsman.

Back on track...
You can make iron spikes. Fairly cheap depending on the eolith temper market on your server.
My server they go for 47cp.
You make refined iron (iron bars)
iron cluster + eolith temper + coal
Then you make iron spikes
iron bar + eolith temper + coal
The spikes sell to scholars I know for their spells. I usually only charge 1.5sp per spike ( they take 1.06sp to make). I charge so little because I am mainly interested in leveling up at the moment.
Hope this helps!!
(FYI, at 13, 2 stacks of spikes got me 98% of a lvl.)
After a lengthy discussion on a diff thread it has been pointed out to me that 1.5sp is too low. May want to check your market and price accordingly.

Ok i am very dull and borring person. What I did was till 12 i made nothing but lether straps, and iron bars on a one for one ratio. Then i turned half of my iron into spikes which i gave to our guild acly for payment for the washes and tempers, the other half I had him turn into buckles. then while he lvled on making the buckles, I went and used his resins and oil to make all the lether into stacks of cords and plates in a one to one ratio. Oh side note make the cords frist since any non pristine leather you have will be used frist on them. when I got done with this I was well into 15 had stuff to make well over 120 packs. Frist set of packs when to the acly lol. Those 120 packs put me well on my way to 20. once i ran out of pack stuff i think i was like just shy of 18 i just started doing nothing but brestplates and selling them did not make any money doing that sold em to the npc merchant(can't do this anymore well not right now) and made about 5 packs that i sold every night at 25 sp each to make a bit of cash. this put me to 20. Now just repeat with the tier 3 stuff but your interdepenance get to be a bit more. just ask on the tailor boards when you get to that lvl if you need more help should be 30 by then and have some good tips.
