Hello here i read this forum for a long time, you all provide very nice hints and informations.

But i can't find anything (maybe i need new eyes and haven't seen it) talking about Fir wood (rare tier 3).

As i'm one of the highest Carpenter of the server (at least Qeynos side) i can't find any answer in the crafting channel and of course GM don't answer :)

I have the recipe to refine the Fir but even when i have all i need to do that (severed fir of course) it don't consider the fir as the primary component.

If any know something about that i will be happy to know your answer :)

Be safe all and good crafting :)

I'm a jeweler, so I won't have the right answer for you.

But if it's like for jewelry, or 10-19 woodwork, I believe you'll need the advanced 20 or 21 carpenter book to be able to refine the rough harvested part before being able to use it.

Unfortunately, this is a known bug and has yet to be fixed :(

If in doubt, I advise checking Bug list on EQ 2 board (http://eqiiforums.station.sony.com/eq2/board/message?board.id=general_tradeskill&message.id=2530) for details and updates.

Not sure if this is what is meant, but I got advanced carpenter 20 and it does have recipes for refining fir into boards and then planed fir.

Correct, it does... however the bug lies in the fact that it doesn't recognize raw fir as the basic component to make fir lumber, and thus all other combines using fir can't be used either.

Hopefully this is fixed soon. Would love to make the 20 slot fir strongboxes, hehe (assuming they're 20 slot since ash is 16, maple is 12, etc.).

Mean i have the lvl 20 advanced carpenter vol 20.

Ok i realy hope they will fix that. Even if i'm not someone who usualy flame because of some bugs i realy begin to be bored to see a soo unfinished game.

For sure a lot of things are realy wonderfull... but well the "But" are important :)

Hmm bugged huh? I am so stocked to see what Fir furniture looks like that I keep serching for the material!

Where do you find the wood at least? I found a list of materials in some of the zones but yet to see Fir..

Fir is a tier 3 rare from Thundering Steppes

And also Nektulos Forest, though not as easy or as safe to harvest there, hehe.

*grin* I didn't know Thundering Steppes was safe  Might have something to do with the fact that my adventure level is anything but adequate for that zone :p

If you don't think Thundering Steppes is safe, you should go exploring Nektulos Forest some time. ;)

I have foraged extensively in both and, at 22, I now scurry quickly through Nek to get to TS. Even though TS is much more crowded and much farther for me to travel, the only time I've died foraging in TS was because of my own stupdity. That's not true of Nek.

The wisps in Nektulos are my best friends. They chase away all the other adventurers so I can harvest in peace. I don't mind that occassionally they want to play tag as payment for their services. :D

Personally, I find Nek to be much easier than TS once you become familiar with it. The guards by the dock will even kill trains for you.

TS is easy if you stay non-kos to the centaurs. There is a pretty large area of TS that I can harvest in with few mobs that will attack me even though they all con red. You might think that area would be crowded, but I've had very little competition for nodes so far.

Are there harvesting spots any where near the docks, Lange? I certainly haven't found them!

Naw, but you can run all the way there with a huge train as long as your resists are decent (so you don't get rooted).

I'm just saying I, personally, find it easier. I know others feel the opposite. That's fine. :)

A lot depends on where you are in Nek. I've uncovered about 90% of the zone now. The southern half of the zone isn't too bad. You can usually find a spot up against a boundary wall, wait for mobs to clear the spawns, and inch forward till you can harvest. If you get agro, you can usually outrun the mobs, if you can get to road before agroing too many new mobs.

Farther north the situation is much more dangerous. I agro'd a pack of very red treants. I outran their nukes, but the 50-point-a-tick DoT got me. The next time I agro'd the treants, I outran them, only to stumble into a pack of patchwork men, one of whom HT'd me for 520. That one was a tricky shard recovery, since I got about 2 steps from a group of them before they killed me.
