I have recipes for waxed leather armor, and I finally got the refining recipe, but it calls for 'low quality pelts' and I am only foraging sullied low quality pelts. What am I missing? Where can I get the low quality pelts?

Thanks!!

They are rare harvests out of tier1 dens.

So is it just a rare drop from the den, or do you just use the sullied pelts that you always get?

It is JUST a rare harvest from the tier 1 Dens

In General the Dropped books have recipes for the rare harvests.

In General the 10-13 have the precombines, 14-16 have the easier finished products and 17-19 have the harder finished products. These numbers are simple rough guidelines I pulled out of my bbbbbackpack.

The common harvests are used in the Vender bought books. with the same level range guide lines as above.

Is this also the case with the average quality pelts for cured leather, and the bronze and black iron for their respective products?

It seems to me like it would be. Does anyone know for certain?

Thank you, in advance!

Check the main site's How To section and review the articles there on harvesting and nodes. The book thing is merely a pattern. The dropped books follow the same pattern (give or take) as the Essentials books.

The same pattern holds true for all tiers, that is established in tier 1 and clarified in tier 2, as far as I know.

Yes, those rare components are needed for the combines in the dropped books you find.

I wouldn't bother buying the books if you see them (unless they are for sale for a few silver only) because the rare components like low quality pelts, copper, blackened iron cluster are so mythically rare it doesn't matter. If you do get your hands on a certain item you will most likely need a book with the word "refining" in it, and another book with the final recipe.

For example, I recently found a blackened iron cluster on the market for 60 silver ... still expensive, but I wanted to give it a try. I have Advanced Outfitter Two Handed Weapons book now, which has the final recipe for a Blackened Iron Two Handed Sword. However, to make the Blackened Iron Bar and Blackened Iron Edge, I need Advanced Outfitter Refining. This book also has the recipe for stretches of cured leather and what not.

I would have to respectfully disagree with my peer.

It is worth it to have all the books, because the equipment generated is quite nice and sells pretty well. At some day in the future, rare-built tradeskill gear will be *the* twinking gear of choice. I bought an average non-sullied pelt for 1g yesterday, and the cured leather backpack I made from it will pay for the pelt, the books I bought, and give me a healthy profit... and that's just from the first pack.

The rare books - and rare materials - are an investment and the product doesn't move nearly as fast, but selling a pristine cured leather backpack for 5g makes it all feel much better. ;)
