I am currently a lvl 10 Scholar. Want to make my own spells etc.

But I'd also like to swap out my crappy 4 slot bags I've been using for a 6 slot 10% weight reducing bag.

Can I make these in Pristine condition as a scholar? I know they are a lvl 5 artisan, but I do not have the upgraded spells for tailoring (had I gone outfitter)

Is it still possible for me to make them? If so, any recomendations?

/hugs!

It's possible for you to make em, but you'll probably have much better luck offering to trade a stack of stroma wash per 8 slot 10% wr pack. I know I'd jump on the offer.

Problem is, I have a hard time finding Outfitters.

I've never run into one.

It can be done, but it takes some luck without the durability bar buffs. It might be less frustrating to buy 'em. If you do want to make them yourself for the sense of accomplishment, abort any attempt with a -50 or -100 round before crude finishes.

How much are they supposed to sell for?

On Unrest I've seen them for around 1 gp.

And...I've NEVER had that much on me.. LOL

on najena 6 slot packs typically sell for 5sp and 8 slotters go for 40sp

try posting in the unrest form and see if you can find a friendly outfitter, I'm sure if your having problems finding an outfitter they are having problems find a Scholar ally.

Arinyn,

Dibbler is an outfitter on Unrest (that's me). I typically sell the pristines for 30s, 25s if there is a real glut that night. I sell 1-2 a night typically, ubt I would certainly take custom orders. If you are getting 3 or more we can talk about volume discounts as well. I would also be willing to work out trades in spells if you have any I don't have yet (set for washes at the moment, but that can change). Send me a tell at your convenience.

This thread has a nice guide to making pristines:

Dibbler,

Thanks for the post! I will indeed look you up when I have the $$. It's so hard finding money as an adventurer. :(

Then, spending that on spells and working tradeksills, and I haven't the money to even upgrade my armor. :(

That is why I was going to try and make them.

As for the link to making pristine packs, I did indeed read that thread before and it's great. However..I don't have the Tier 2 spells to pull it off. :(

So as you can see....I'm a sad girl. :(

Yeah, that is way over-priced. It doesnt really mean the person was ripping people off. I often put a fairly high price on an item I dont know the going price for. That way, while Im afk trading, I dont get ripped off and only stand to gain from it. Then later on I can change it to the correct price.
But yeah, it depends on which pristine you are talkin about. The pristine rawhide backpacks (the level 5ish ones) I usually sell for 8-10 sp depending on the market at the time.
The pristine tanned leather(?) (lvl 15 ones) go for about 20-25sp. Cant wait till i get those!

I was indeed talking about the pristine tanned leather backpack, 8 slot 10 percent weight reduction. I leave the lower ones to others skilling up, there tend to be alot around the 10s mark on Unrest.

No, those are the lower ones. The level 15s have more than 8 slots. I believe they are 12 slot 19% WR?

Not unless you are talking about rares? The level 5 are 4-6 slot, the level 15 are 6-8 slot. I sold 4 last night, 1 regular (8 slot 5% WR) for 25s, and 3 pristine (8 slot 10% WR) for 30-35s. I am not incredibly interested in selling them for cheap, but I keep putting them up because they keep selling. Once a large number of people get into the market I will let them sell for cheap and move on to something else. =)

K, yeah, I cant count. :(
You are absolutely correct. From now on, everyone just disregard my posts and call me 'the crazy man in the corner'. :D
I thnk I may have been confusing the number of slots with the boxes rather than bags.

Found an outfitter lastnight that was in need of Stroma Resin.

We made a trade of 2 stacks of Pristine Stroma Resin for a 8slot 10% pack!

WOOT!

Thanks guys!

The 'plain' backpacks are 6 slot and only 5% wr. The small increment to 10% wr is not worth a lot and any 2nd tier scholar or craftsperson should have no difficulty making several bags and getting a mix of 'plain' and pristine. The bags are particularly good because you make hide stretches - bad ones become the straps - good ones the plates - buckle quality doesn't matter either so only 2 critical steps - stretch to plate and final assembly.

Of course an outfitter at lvl 10 without any books or skills for tier 2 products has the extra 3 spells to push the quality back up and should have a better success rate.

But the 'plain' vs pristine difference is trivial - I use the plains and sell the pristines - I can't see why someone would pay 12-15 for a pristine 6 slot 10wr but only about 5 for a 'plain' 6 slot 5wr bag (aprox prices on LucanD server).

There would be so few occasions where the extra 5% wr made a difference.

These and the elm boxes were the first things I made and by Artisan 6 or 7 I was getting 'plain' or pristine everytime. Of course in the boxes pristine is an extra slot over the 7 slot 'plain' so there it does make a real difference.

I wanted them because of the 2 extra slots pristines have. The 10% weight reduction was simply a large boon.

I've got to agree that the extra 5% WR isn't worth what I'm seeing people asking for pristine packs. I have yet to set up to sell my pristines, but I intend to soon. Right now, I figure I can use the extra cash and make up some more... if they turn up pristine, great, if not, the plain ones are good enough for me, and at least I got the xp from making them, putting me that much closer to being able to make tanned packs. I have yet to see a situation where I'm having problems with weight, it's always # of slots that does me in, so plain is as good as pristine. Unfortunately, right now I end up with 5-slot shaped packs far too often for my taste (partly because I'm not paying close enough attention during the crafting process, most likely) which is the only thing keeping me from just grinding out rawhide packs untill all my toons' banks are full of them. I'm hoping to do a bit more work over the weekend on my tailoring skill, and maybe fix that problem.

Hence the reason I didn't pay for the pack.

The pack cost me ABOUT 5sp. I had to buy the tubers.

8 slots is perfect for me now, though I think I'm going to roll up an alt outfitter just to make packs. We'll see though.

Actually, the best buff is the lower level one you have.. Knots.. Just make sure you start with a full power bar, and spam Knots. You should get either Pristine or Unnamed at least, provided you abort any creation that starts out bad.
