View Full Version : Visable Events on the Stove

In my quest to actually figure out the skill behind the cooking, I've been watching the stove carefully. It seems that there are random events that pop up in the graphics that sometimes even coincide with events that pop up in the progress window. I've been trying to deciper these... but so far the only one I'm sure of is that it really seems to help if you counter steam when you see a blue/white graphic appear around the pots. It also seems that you want to keep the spoon going... and if it's put down on the stove, pushing the spices button helps to put it back in motion. As far as constant heat... not really certain, except it might be when the stove goes mad and black smoke comes out of the oven door, the spoon gets thrown down and the pots look like the have a huge amount of steam rise off them.

Am I nuts, or has anyone else been looking at this?

Hmmm....very interesting. I'm gonna have to try to keep an eye out for little things like that on the various crafting stations.

I can try to confirm visual events... this is what I know from experimentation...

First off I've investigated visual effect on 3 devices...

Alc Table
Gem cutting table
and finaly alot of time at the stove...

Here is my THEORY...

Visual cuse occur each cycle of your cooking progress (when your bars move) at that point the system looks at what aspect of your progress are running low and then flashes you some visual indicators.

On the Stove:
Blue circles around the pots indicate a heat / possible spice issue

A plumb of blue lights indicate an issue with (Darn it what is it called) I call it blowing on the food...countering steam and stuff. This I can almost CONFIRM.

I have my suspicions about the door of the oven opening indicating heat issues.

On Alc Table:
there are 3 draws...

Far left is Calculation (The book)
Middle drawer is The beecker (emultion or something)
Far right Drawer is Experimentation (Question Mark)

On Gem cutting table:

Sparks from the wheel indicate the Jem Icon
There are two glowing rings that fluid is poured in... each will start glowing representing each of the other two buttons. Can't recall names or Icons.

NOW realize, I also believe that there is a randomized catastrophy generator (How big is based on Artistry+Your level / Lvl of item ) This catastrphy generator can quickly screws up all of your balance of the 3 buttons/ellement. BUt keeping each on steady helps move you along faster and safer.

With these theories I've been able to actualy manipulate all the bars...move progress along...hault los and recoop durability.

I also found in the process of button mashing that clicking the direct counter to a Pop up warning can result in some bad stuff and disbalance but some things aren't so bad dependant on icon...

further theories on button afinity...

Adding spices descreases heat
Blowing and constant heat can raise heat
blowing/over heating lowers flavor

Counters...
Under Heat = Blow and constant heat
Over heat = Constant heat and Spices
Flavor loss = Spices AND blowing
Plumb of steam = Spice and Blow

Countering any of the above with one not listed result in bad progress and durability loss.

FINALY, sorry long post just wanted to share everything I'm doing...

For cooking I cycle ALL three basic icons (Not the ones you get later) if I see durability heading down to fast or I think I'm not going to make it to my target quaility level I replace the basic spice Icon in the cycle with the Tier 2 spice Icon. takes longer to cook but you can turn that durability bar around if its not that bad a cotastrophy and you got enough skill. The better you time your cycling of the icons the more consistant results you get. Plus, I've learned to make a little tune out of the 3 sounds....the more constant the beat the results I get outta it.

Hay, it may be wrong but it works for me and I have prity good consistancy and a decent success rate on brand new and harder items.

This all may be voo doo and speculation...but hay its kinda fun.

Has anyone had similar experiance? I'd like to know

I have noticed a few of those things when at the stove also. So I was not sure and would heat all three icons to counteract it and have had good results doing that. :D Of course you use a little more power doing it that way.

Great info... just a side note... the time between the bar movments are 6 seconds and they are called crafting rounds...

I do believe what you see on the stove is mainly responses to things happening, not necessarily prompts for something to happen. I could be wrong here though.

Critical Failure: Sparks shoot out
Bad Failure: Plumes of black smoke come out of the stove
Regular Failure: Smoke boils over the pots, especially the big one in the back
Success: Steam rolls in the front 2 pots
Critical Success: Sparklies fly up from the front pots
Completing a tier: Green outline
Losing a tier: Red outline

Note that only one animation happens at a time, so if you have a regular failure and complete a tier, you'll get the completion animation.
