I've just dinged 18 yesterday, by making a full set of Iron Chain (5 pristine, 2 forged).
Until there, I've been through Burlap armor (sold) and Tanned armor (worn). I did a lot (probably 75%) of the weapons, but I didn't find one really worth my time/money, that wasn't accessible in another form for a low price at vendors.

What should I do now to go to 20 ?

Should I start redoing burlap/chain/tanned again (without the "discovery" bonus, I found it was a pain to go through subcomponents for a hour or so for each armor set). Go into "mass production" of one particular recipe ? Is Inventor armor any good ?

Any advice ?

BTW - Inventor cape recipe is bugged - it requires tanned leather boots as its main component... Of course, you need pristine boots to make pristine cape.

If you have friends or guildmates make them some armor or bags. Having that as a goal has really helped me get through the more tedious parts of crafting plus I get to make someone else happy with my work :)

I made tons of Backpacks for all my friends. I then made a set of Inventors Armor.

That ran me 10 19.5 ish.

Then I made throwing hammers until I dinged.

If you can get the iron buckles without problem, then backpacks are a great bang for the buck.

Made 19 on some Pristine chain armor firsts. Then made 20 iron bars, 12 Burlap padding, a full set of pristine tanned leather amor for a guild Cleric, a set of Pristine Chain legs and helm for another guildmate and I am 76% into the level.

Tonight I will probably make about 10, 8 slot backpacks and that should finish my level out and ding me 20.

Your BEST bet for XP is to make armor and backpacks. The tailoring and Metalshaping skills are such that pristine are far more likely than with the weaponry and as such you should earn more XP quickly that by making weapons.

Although if you can get about 10 Iron studs, iron pomells and 5 iron butts then I would suggest making at least one of every weapon you can for the first time pristine creation XP bonus.

When I made my Pristine chain helm it was a yellow recipe and I got about 11% XP. When I made my first Pristine chain BP I got about 9% and it was a yellow or white recipe.
