View Full Version : Iron Bar is a bug?

This is a delicate topic, I know, but it is one worthy of discussion. Scholars can make Iron bars, it included right in there recipe book. Is it really supposed to be there? I know the recipe is buggy at the moment and makes for a very dangerous item to make. But you can, as a scholar, scribe the recipe and craft the item with scholar buffs.

So the question is. Should scholars be able to craft iron bars? If so/not, why/why not?

I'll start this off with my comments.

No, scholars should not be able to make iron bars. It is a bug/over-sight, that will later be corrected.

As an outfitter, I depend on scholars for many things. Not the least of which are washes and tempers that I use in ALL my recipes. I can't make one single item without scholar or craftsman goods, mostly scholar goods. Thats fine though, I can jive with the whole interdependancy thang EQ2 has going. Thing is though, interdepenancy really isn't happening. I'm buying tempers and washes for over 1s a piece and not being able to get some love back on my end. Simply put, I feel expendable. I depend on you, you don't depend on me.

Iron bar is in the jeweler sub-class which is goverened by Scholar so technically yes it is as intended. If it SHOULD be there or not? Not my debate.

I would like to mention this here (Since the other topics are locked regarding this issue) Keep your artificing counters (I call em counters, anyway, cause they counter bad effects :p ) up. Spam spam spam away on em, especially the ones that don't use any power. seriously. Pound on em 'til your fingers are numb, and you will still recieve the beneficial effects of the "spell" It's near impossible to not get a pristine iron bar out of it. and what a sense of accomplishment you'll have by knowing you used the power of a chisel (square cut, round brilliant cut) and Yoga (Center of spirit) to conquer the ravages of a coal-fired furnace and a bar of iron.

*squints*

Do not try to bend the Iron bar; that is impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth.

There is no iron bar.

As a Jeweller: Nope, we should not be able to do Iron Bars. There is no need for special crafting knowledge that a Jeweller has. We are here to do little stuf, cut some edges off and such things. We are not meant to melt raw iron into bars. Thats clearly a job for those people working with big heat :)

Iron Studs and such things are another thing, they need those special knowledge of a Jeweller. Big fire and hammer is not enough for this :)

Try the forge you can make iron bars just hard because we dont have the correct skills to fix problems so be ready to take some damage. Though jewerly craft skills seems to work somewhat.

Nope its Interdependancy. Find an Outfitter. :)

Just a note... It's not a bug/oversight when all three classes have their own iron bar recipe. The only bug is the fact that we cannot currently counter events for our recipe. Sure, we should be interdependant on other classes for the higher tier recipes, but for an iron bar? No, don't think so. And sure if you're role-playing it might seem odd that a scholar can make an iron bar, but who cares? I'm not role-playing.. :P I'm trying to make an EQ2 living with the recipes they gave me, not please those who pretend :)

as a future jewel/runecrafter i very much inrsist on being able to craft bars for my metal needs - i don't want to be lumped together with "sages" (scriberlings is what they are!) and poison mongers all the time... i'm a smith at heart!

not every "scholar" wears a dress and a wig :p
