today i tested the level 21 alchemist crafted poison Draconian Backlash, in all 4 of its qualities... im a level 21 assassin, and tested them all on orc lumberjacks in the commonlands.. they were grey mobs, but had enough hp to make sure they didnt die before the poison wore off... i fought with each poison for about 20 minutes.. id estimate about 30-40 mobs per poison tested

Thinning Draconian Backlash (1st stage 'crude')
initial hit ranged from 27-32, poison procs 41dmg for 4 ticks afterwards

Middling Draconian Backlash (2nd stage 'shaped')
initial hit ranged 27-32...... poison procs 41dmg for 5 ticks afterwards

Draconian Backlash (3rd stage 'normal')
initial hit ranged 28-32.. poison procs 41dmg for.... 4 ticks afterwards (twice, JUST twice, the poison did 5 ticks)

Transluscent Backlash (4th stage 'pristine')
initial hit 27-31, poison procs 41dmg for 4 ticks afterwards

-----------------------------------------

so, um.... ok... i dont really know what to make of this.. its all very mind boggling (for those that might have missed it, make a note of how the 2nd level poison did more damage than the other levels, by lasting longer)

feel free to discuss

From playing EQ1, i susepct what you are seeing is the tic effect, where sometimes a spell cast last 4 tics, sometimes 5.

I'd bet if you used the crude poison a few times you would see a 1 tic variance in that too.

Looks like the quality of the poison has zero impact on the effect.

i used each poison for about half of its duration id guess.. the 2nd stage poison lasted 5 ticks each time... EVERY time...

the other qualities lasted 4, every time.... except 3rd stage had it last 5 ticks twice...

Thanks for testing this Arilin. As someone who has been asking you to test this, I appreciate all the time and sp you're spending to help us gather information.

It's my belief that poisons were meant to be 'multiple' combines not 'quality' combines (I think that's the terminology used on this board). i.e. The better you do, the more of the poison you make. After all, I buy my poisons in stacks of 99. I use them too. I really can't see myself sitting in front of the chem table for 198 combines (two poisons) every couple weeks/month.. nor spending that kind of money.. As it stands now the merchant-bought poisons are much much cheaper, by quantity.

If this concerns you as it does me, please feedback it. Remember, poisons are very new and have been really buggy (suspensions not in game, suspensions not working, etc.) I would say feedback it.

Another thing that I really wish they would do with these multiple combines (as opposed to quality combines) is give them all the same name so that they don't take up so much bank/inventory space..

If someone gives me a stack of carbonite and asks me to combine them into tempers, he can get 60-80 depending on whether or not its pristine. The names help identify what you got four of as opposed to three. Otherwise they will always think that you are keeping some for yourself, or you can just stop them at the normal combine to convert the stack into tempers faster.
