Provisioners are chefs and brewers, applying their culinary skills to provide a valuable service for the benefit of their allies. Food and drink refresh the weary hero and can provide regenerative benefits.

Primary Atribute: Artistry

This sounds like SOE doesn't have plans for the food and drinks to have stat enhancers, only regeneration effects on hp and mana. Refreshing a weary hero doesn't sound like any kind of way to enhance a hero, only making him not as tired.

This could kill this proffesion for anyone planning on being this if they don't help out by stat enhancers. If they will only help out by bringing hp and mana back up, then not as many people will need it. Only the main tanks, secondary tanks, and heavy mana casters will buy them regualarly. Maybe the others will pay for them once in a while, if they are planning on soloing, but it doesn't seem like they will need to.

If there is no other way to obtain food then I can see provisioner being of major benefit to adventurers, but then they will only buy the long lasting normal food if nothing is to be gained by using the higher level items.

Sorry if this in the wrong place and sorry about the rant, just hoping that provisioners won't be a waste of time to level.

I can't agree with this prognosis. Remember everyone has hit points and everyone uses power. In EQLive regenerative effects - hp regeneration and clarity-like effects - had a large impact on characters. How many casters did you know who wouldn't go hunting without KEI?

We also know that buffs will be limited to groups, so it's possible there won't be many other ways to obtain these sorts of regenerative effects.

All indications are that all classes will use power.

So maybe the mages and maybe scouts will not be interested in HP regen food... but Power regen food will likely be popular to everyone and HP regen to tanks (and probably priests assuming normal EQ1 agro issues)

Everyone probably will have aggro issues. Remember, the mobs are supposed to be smarter now, or at least varied in their choice of targets. Probably be critters out there that target the scouts first (maybe they'd been backstabbed before and want to avoid that again) or the mages first.

Food increases your health regeneration rate. Drink increases your power regeneration rate. Both only affect regeneration outside of combat.

From what I've seen, EVERYONE likes the power regeneration, regardless of class.

The health regeneration seems like it would be useful for the occasional melee soloer, but there really isn't much interest in it. A priest can bring people back to full health with one or two spells, so there's not a lot of point in additional health regeneration (in a group setting).

I make food, but mostly it gets sold back to NPC vendors. Drinks seem much more popular.

With the recent change to player-made goods no longer being sold back to NPC merchants, they need to re-evaluate food and how it affects players.

As a level 38 Swashbuckler, power rgen is everything to me in groups. As a provisioner I can provide for myself and be self sustaining. I don't need to rely on the player economy (which is often lacking in adequate supply of provisions) for provisions that I use on a daily basis. This is a tradeskill that means more to me as an adventurer class than I suppose it means to a pure artisan (who might be interested more in making a profit).

Currently store bought provisions, "meat pie" and "flagon of glacial water" provide slightly greater rgen than tier2 provisions. So I'm looking forward to being able to make tier 3 and tier 4.

I've found that food can be sold, but sells much slower. I also use food as gifts to party members that have been particularily helpful and demonstrated great teamwork.

As a cash crop, definitely the drinks. I cant make enough to supply myself and sell them too. Theres just not enough hours in the day to craft all that.

I only wish they would show stats on food and drink items, this would make it so much easier to sell our crafts. The average player doesnt know the difference between a baked flounder and an almond crusted mackerel.
