I wonder what equipment for Artisan's will be like in the new game?
In EQ1 there where the +skill items added with the Luclin expansion but these are pretty crude modifiers.
Imagine instead in the new game that you can make, buy or loot a multitude of different items.

A character who makes weapons may find himself wearing an apron of the forge (slightly reduces his reaction times in smithing encounters) while wielding a hammer of the coldain (increases your chances when trying to reduce defects) and using an anvil of might (increases the chance of producing a higher quality item)

Given the way item creation is now based on an encounter with many different opportunities I hope there are or will be items available that can affect this - either at Artisan, class or sub-class level.

Principle charactistics I see that might be possible are modifers to:
reduce/increase durability
reduce/increase wear rate (durability stepping)
reduce/increase quality
reduce/increase length of encounter
reduce/increase overall success/failure
reduce/increase difficulty/challenge of recipe
reduce/increase difficulty/challenge of a type of item
reduce/increase number of components needed
increase your power (asumes you expend power during the encounter)

It would also be nice for Artisans to be more recognisable by the attire they donned for the tasks.

These are some great ideas :)

And I bet you that a chunk of these will be in the game somehow or at least better be :D

I agree. I think this could be a way to introduce some interdependancy as well. For example, maybe a tailor can craft a special leather toolbelt for carpenters, that speeds up thier overall crafting time due to having thier tools closer at hand. And blacksmiths can craft special knives for tailors that increases the durability of the leather they are working. Hopefully some of these great ideas will be in the game!

they seem to be ducking the 'artisan tools' and artisan based loot questions. Either they're tuning them, saving the info for that big magazine thing or there just isnt any and they dont have any info to give. I, personally, would like to see some artisan based loot come out of the game. We're players too.
