Can you get status points as an individual or do you HAVE to be in a guild to get status points?

You get status points for completeing a society's task (such as collect 15 lead clusters). You can also get them as a guild.

You have to be part of a society or a guild.
A society is NPC based, and does not require interactions with other players. The points gained here for doing tasks, ONLY affect the society, and at this time at least (this may change) give you no personal benefit.
a Guild is player based, and this has much player to player interaction. The points here benefit the guild (if you are set as a patron) AND the individual player.

So in other words, no you can't gather status as an individual. Gosh darnit that is so sucky. One more step into the grave for those that play casually.
*sigh* Guess i'm gogin to have to find some way to raise the stellar amount of 10 gold to start a guild.

I thought it was like 60 silver or something?
I could be wrong on that but find a guild that is just a social guild as i am sure there are plenty around.
I am kind of not sure what my guild is but I just do my own thing and let them worry about what they care about lol
